Cheltenham Preview & Race Night 2012 raised €40,000 to Support Irish Hearts
Rita Shah & Oliver Brady co-founders of the Shabra Charity Foundation held their 4th annual Cheltenham Preview & Race Night is on Tuesday, 6th March 2012 at The Glencarn Hotel Castleblayney Co. Monaghan.
The size of the crowd and distance people travelled is a testimony to the success of this event for the Shabra Charity raising €40,000 which was donated on the night to the following worthy causes:
- Cardiac Surgery Research, Mater Hospital €20,000
- Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), Tallaght Hospital €20,000
Matt Chapman of At the Races interviewed an excellent star studded expert Racing Panel treated the crowd to the expert tips for next week.
Rita & Oliver would like to thank the celebrity guests for so generously giving their time to this event and also a special thank you everyone for their individual support and donations to this fundraiser. They would also like to acknowledge the hard work and loyal dedication of the Shabra Committee members.
“The research will also look at cardiac transplantation. We are studying how to manipulate the suppression of the patients’ immune system after receiving a cardiac transplant. The plan is to improve patient outcome by manipulating their immune system.
The research will be carried out on patients’ at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. It will be done in collaboration with University College Dublin. The research supervisor is Mr. Jim McCarthy Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Director of Transplantation at the Mater Hospital. All research is done with the patients’ consent and with ethical approval from the Hospital”

Boosting Women’s Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneur , Rita Shah has been invited by European Parliament – to participate at “Boosting Women’s Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century” on 7th October, 2011 at the European Parliament in Brussels.
